SURFER IN BELGIUM

The country isn't known for it's surf, but has a lively surfing community. Belgium has a 60km long coastline, all beach.A lot of wind, rain and cold water-good beer and friendly people. The best time to visit is from mid May to the end of September, when day temperatures are generally in the 70s-80s F/23-32 C, with nights in the 50s-60sF /10-22 C. The winter months are cold in the 30s-40sF /0-10 C during the day and below freezing at night. It rains a lot year round (though it is usually only a drizzle), so take a folding umbrella. If you?re going strictly for indoor sightseeing (museums, etc.), October can be very nice. If you want to avoid crowds, try mid April to mid June or mid September through October. Belgium is home to the Flemish in the north and the Walloons in the south; the former speak Flemish (Dutch), the latter French. The second language of both groups is as likely to be English as the other of Belgium's two official tongues.
